Tea merchant and unsalaried councilman Magnus, who was the chairman of the board of the Jewish Community between 1900 and 1908, belonged to the top of the Jewish society. He had a new house built for his family in the early 1880s, which was considered the most modern in K\u00f6nigsberg at the time.
